Dispo88 FAQ: Answers for Hosts and Guests
Dispo88 is a shared digital disposable camera that runs in your phone's browser. One person creates a camera and shares a link; everyone who opens it can take photos, and they all land in the same album. Here are the questions that come up most.
FAQ
What is Dispo88?
A digital disposable camera you share with a link. Guests take photos from their phones, each photo develops for an hour, and everything goes into one album for that camera.
Do guests need to download an app or make an account?
No. Guests open the link in their phone's browser and shoot. Only the person who creates the camera signs in, using Google.
How does developing work?
Every photo develops for one hour after it's taken, then it appears in the album. Photos develop one by one, not all at once. (The demo camera develops in one minute so you can see how it works.)
Who can see the photos?
The camera's owner sees every photo. Guests see the photos they took. If the owner turns on album sharing (part of Crew and Event), everyone with the link can browse the full album.
How much does it cost?
Free for up to 88 photos per camera. Crew is $5 CAD and Event is $39 CAD, each a one-time payment for one camera. There's no subscription.
What does Crew include?
Unlimited photos, album sharing for everyone, and optional per-guest photo limits.
What does Event include?
Everything in Crew, plus a QR code and printable QR poster, a custom guest hint, a password guests enter before shooting, camera lock, a choice of develop time, a live slideshow for a TV or projector, and export of every photo as a zip.
Can I choose a different develop time?
On Event cameras, yes: pick 10, 20 or 30 minutes, or 1, 3, 6 or 12 hours in the camera's settings. The change applies to every photo, including ones still developing. Free and Crew cameras develop photos after one hour.
Can I take photos from my laptop?
The camera is built for phones. If you open a camera link on a desktop computer, you'll see a QR code to open it on your phone instead.
Can guests upload photos they already took?
Only if the host allows it. On Event cameras, the owner can turn on uploads from the camera roll in settings, and guests then see an "upload from your camera roll" option under the shutter. It's off by default, and library photos get the same film look and count toward the same limits.
What's a Memory Reel?
A short vertical video (1080×1920) made from photos you pick in the album. It's made right in your browser, has no watermark, and works on every tier. If you're not logged in, you can use up to 3 photos.
Can I download the photos?
Yes. Select photos in the album and tap Download, up to 30 at a time (one at a time if you're not logged in). Event cameras can also export every photo as one zip file.
How do I set a cover photo?
In the album, tap the select icon, choose one photo, and tap Set as Cover. Only the owner sees this option.
Can I stop people from taking more photos?
On an Event camera, yes. Turn on Lock camera in the settings and guests can't take new photos until you unlock it.
How long are photos kept?
Photos stay in the album until the camera's owner deletes them or the camera.
Is there a lifetime plan?
Not anymore. The lifetime deal has ended; people who bought it keep their benefits.
What languages does Dispo88 support?
