Welcome to Dispo88! Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use Dispo88: our website, our iOS app, and our App Clip (the part of the app that opens from a camera link or QR code without installing anything). Dispo88 is operated by a business registered in Quebec, Canada, and this policy complies with applicable privacy laws in Canada and the United States.

1. Information We Collect

  • Photos: Photos you take with a Dispo88 camera, or pick from your photo library when the camera's host allows it. They are stored in that camera's album.
  • Account information: Guests don't need an account. If you sign in (to create and manage cameras), we receive your name, email address and, for Google, your profile photo, from Google or Apple. With Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email; we then receive a private relay address from Apple. We also store the nickname you choose.
  • Usage and device data: Your IP address (used to limit how many photos can be uploaded per minute and to protect the service), basic device and browser information, and basic in-app events such as visits to the upgrade page.
  • Payments: Camera upgrades are paid on our website through Stripe. Stripe processes your card details; we never see or store your full card number.
  • Technical logs: Error reports and logs (through Sentry and our hosting providers) to find and fix problems.

Cookies and storage on your device

  • Sign-in session: A secure cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 14 days, or until you log out.
  • Guest identifier: For some cameras, a random ID in a cookie (kept up to one year) used only to apply upload limits fairly to each guest. It isn't linked to your name or used for anything else.
  • Preferences and your photos: Your language, the cameras you've opened, and the IDs of photos you took (so you can find them in the album without an account).
  • Photos waiting to upload: If your connection drops, a photo is kept on your device and sent when you're back online, then deleted from the device.

We don't use cookies or other technologies for advertising or to track you across other websites and apps.

The iOS app and App Clip

  • Camera: Used only while you're taking photos for a Dispo88 camera.
  • Photo library: Only the photos you pick are read, and only when the camera's host allows uploads from the library. Saving photos to your library happens only when you choose to download them.
  • Lock Screen card: Shows the camera's name and how many photos you've taken. It is created on your device and stays there.
  • The app doesn't track you and contains no advertising.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely for the following purposes:

  • To provide and operate Dispo88: signing you in, hosting your photos and showing them in albums, and processing upgrades.
  • To keep the service safe and fair, such as limiting uploads.
  • To improve our services, such as fixing bugs or enhancing features based on usage patterns.
  • To communicate with you, such as responding to support requests or notifying you of service updates (see Section 8 for details).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure, including encryption in transit and secure servers. However, no system is completely secure, and Dispo88 does not guarantee indefinite storage or absolute security. Photos and other data may be deleted or become inaccessible due to technical limitations, user actions (e.g., deleting a camera or your account), or other unforeseen issues. Photos are kept until they or their camera are deleted. Other data is kept only as long as necessary to provide the service or until you delete your account, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Your data is stored with Google Cloud (Firebase), primarily in the United States, and may be processed in Canada or other jurisdictions, subject to applicable data protection laws.

4. Third-Party Services

We don't share your personal data with third parties for their own use. We rely on these providers to run Dispo88, and they process data only on our behalf:

  • Google Cloud / Firebase: sign-in, database and photo storage
  • Google and Apple: sign-in, if you choose them
  • Netlify: website hosting
  • Cloudflare: network delivery and security
  • Stripe: payments
  • Mailjet: service emails
  • Sentry: error reports

Any third-party links within Dispo88 are subject to those parties' own privacy policies.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under applicable privacy laws (e.g., PIPEDA in Canada, CCPA in California):

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request removal of your data by contacting us or deleting your account via the "My Account" page. Note that deleted photos cannot be recovered due to the disposable nature of our service.
  • Opt-Out: Currently, we do not use your data for purposes beyond service provision (e.g., marketing or analytics), and session cookies are essential for login functionality, so no opt-out is available. If this changes, we will update this policy and provide opt-out options.

6. Cross-Border Data Transfers

As Dispo88 operates in the US and Canada and is registered in Quebec, your data may be transferred to, stored, or processed in Canada or other jurisdictions. We ensure these transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including obtaining your consent where required.

7. Children’s Privacy

Dispo88 is not intended for children under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. 8. Email and Marketing Communications

We may send you service-related emails, such as responses to support requests or notifications regarding your account or service updates (which do not require separate consent). If we introduce promotional emails (e.g., about Premium membership or new features), we will obtain your prior consent as required under Canadian Anti-Spam Law (CASL) and CAN-SPAM Act in the US. You can opt-out of promotional emails at any time via a link in each message. Our emails will include our business name and contact details as required by law.

9. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses a risk of harm to you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities within the timeframes required by applicable laws (e.g., PIPEDA, Quebec Bill 25).

10. Business Transfers

If Dispo88 is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal information may be transferred to the new entity. We will notify you of such a transfer and any changes to how your data is handled.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of any significant changes via email or through an announcement on our website. Your continued use of Dispo88 after posting any updates constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
