**In short:** POV's free plan covers events up to 10 guests and Once's up to 5 (as of October 2026, from their own pricing pages); past that, both charge by guest count. Dispo88 is free for 88 photos with any number of guests: guests scan a QR code and shoot in their phone's browser, with no app and no account. For a whole wedding, an Event camera is $39 CAD once, still with no guest limit. POV and Once let the host reveal the whole album at a set time, which Dispo88 doesn't.

Yes, we make Dispo88. Everything below about POV and Once comes from their own websites as of October 2026. Prices change, so check before you buy.

## Why people look for a POV alternative

POV is the best-known disposable camera app for events, and it's good at what it does. The question people ask is usually about price: the free plan stops at 10 guests, and after that the price climbs with the guest list. A birthday with 25 friends or a wedding with 150 guests is a paid event, even if half the guests never take a photo.

## The free plans, side by side

| | Dispo88 | POV | Once |

| Free for | 88 photos, any number of guests | Up to 10 guests | Up to 5 guests |

| Guests need an app? | No, the browser | No (App Clip on iPhone, the web on Android) | No, the mobile web |
| When photos appear | 1 hour after each photo (Event: 10 min to 24 h) | Host picks the reveal | Host picks the reveal |

## Dispo88

Dispo88 runs in the phone's browser. You make a camera, share its link or QR code, and everyone shoots on their own phone. Each photo develops for an hour, like film, then lands in one album the whole group can browse.

- **Free:** 88 photos per camera, with any number of guests. Make a new camera for each event.
- **Crew ($8.88 CAD once):** unlimited photos.
- **Event ($39 CAD once):** unlimited photos, a printable QR poster in 10+ designs, a live slideshow for a TV, a password, a camera lock, a choice of develop time and a zip of every photo.

What it doesn't do: reveal the whole album at once at a set time. On an Event camera, a 12-hour develop time gets close: photos from the night show up the next morning.

## POV

[POV](https://pov.camera/) is free for events up to 10 guests. Above that, its pricing calculator charges by guest count: as of October 2026 it showed US$34.99 for 100 guests and $89.99 for 250, with a business package (branding, a live slideshow, support) as an add-on. Guests join from a QR code with no download, through an App Clip on iPhone and the web on Android, and the host chooses when photos are revealed.

Best for: hosts who want the whole album to open at one moment.

## Once

[Once](https://once.film/) is free for up to 5 guests, then priced by guest count, paid once per event. The host sets how many shots each guest gets (unlimited shots are a $9.99 add-on) and when the photos are revealed. Guests join from a QR code in the mobile web.

Best for: small groups who like a fixed number of shots and a reveal.

## Which free option fits?

- **A party or birthday with more than 10 guests:** Dispo88's free camera, since it has no guest limit.
- **A dinner for 5 to 10 people:** any of the three is free.
- **You want everything revealed at one moment:** POV or Once.
- **A wedding:** none of the free plans covers a whole wedding. Dispo88 Event is $39 CAD for any number of guests; POV and Once charge by guest count. [Wedding apps compared at 100 and 250 guests](https://dispo88.com/blog/best-disposable-camera-app-for-wedding).
